Matthew specialises in criminal defence and prosecution before judges and juries, industrial relations, work health and safety, intentional torts and inquests and commissions of inquiry. He has delivered presentations on criminal advocacy and work health and safety. Matthew draws on the extensive knowledge and experience he gained as a solicitor at the New South Wales Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. During that time, he spent two-and-a-half years as an advocate in a specialist team prosecuting high profile and complex crime, as well as crimes committed by New South Wales police officers. Matthew appears in most jurisdictions including the Federal Court of Australia, the Supreme, District and Local Courts of New South Wales, Fair Work Commission, Industrial Relations Commission, New South Wales Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT) and the Coroner’s Court. Prior to his admission to practise as a solicitor in 2013, Matthew worked in in-house roles at Screen Australia, the Chartered Insurance Institute London and the Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation.
