Amay accepts briefs in all areas of law with a particular focus on public and criminal law.

Amay was admitted to practice in 2010 and called to the Bar in 2023. He is an experienced advocate who has practiced extensively in criminal and civil law. He has excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a passion for advocacy.

Before coming to the Bar, Amay worked as a solicitor for over a decade. He was a solicitor at the Office of the Director for Public Prosecutions (NSW) for over 8 years and at the NSW Crown Solicitor’s Office for 3 years.

Amay commenced his career at the ODPP where he gained extensive experience prosecuting a range of serious and complex crimes. He appeared in hundreds of matters on behalf of the Director, including summary prosecutions, contested committals, sentences, and appeals.

Amay then continued growing his experience at the CSO where he was involved in high-risk offenders’ applications (including terrorism-related applications) and then as a solicitor advocate appearing in claims of public interest immunity, subpoena law, and care matters. Amay has appeared in matters throughout the NSW court hierarchy, including the Children’s, Local, District, and Supreme Court, including the Court of Appeal.
